TEETHING AT 4MO! New mom begs for help!!?
I really need some help here! My baby boy(4mo) is teething and wont sleep and wont quit crying. Ive tried everything I can think of cold washcloths,teething ring,Ambasol,Tylenol,Teething tablets and still no real results. Ive had maybe 8 hrs sleep in three days and Im really worried about Thanksgiving with our extended family tomorrow. I do know for sure that it is teething and not an ear infection or other ailment because he has little blisters(3!) on his top and bottom gums.PLEAAASE HELP!
Okay they are rough spots not actually festering blisters, and colic/gas is not the prob. He had colic for 2 and a half months took a week off and started teething:)
His wonderful pedi cancelled an appiontment i had been waiting for for a week this morning. Really people just answer this question if you have tried something that has worked! I dont need abstract diagnosis or advice.
Try some clove oil. You can either make it yourself by simmering whole cloves in oil or dilute the essential oil in some oil.
However if they are blisters on his gums and not hard bumps you need to take him to a doctor ASAP because it is not teething and blisters can be a sign of serious disease as well as really silly things too.
Also if you have an smaller toys with you can soak and freeze those for him to chew on. If he does this a lot consider using breastmilk or formula as water can be bad. Also at 4 months you may wish to consider boiling the water first.

Sorry about the blister comment. But foot and mouth disease (I think) anyway one of the childhood diseases starts with blisters on the gums.
The clove oil really works though, numbs them right up. It is actually used in some temporary fillings.
Frozen toys are good too.
Or but don’t tell anyone a bit of scotch/rye on the gums. (Now for all of you that are going to freak out if you dip your finger in scotch how much alcohol do you really think he is going to get?!
Also you could try giving him gripe water with the Tylenol/Advil before bed in case the teething or the meds are upsetting his stomach.
My baby cut 3 teeth at the same time, it was awful! Also don’t be surprised if one pops through and the others seem to stop for a few days.
If all else fails try a whole dill pickle or a bone to gnaw on. But I would be hesitant because you haven’t stated solids yet.
Also talk to your pharmacist.
